Air Force Common Admission Test AFCAT 2014


Indian Air Force invites enterprising and adventurous men to join the Indian Air Force as Commissioned Officers in Flying, Technical and Ground Duty branches
Applications are invited from Male Indian citizens as per Citizenship Act 1955 for the following courses commencing in January 2014/July 2014 for Short Service Commission in Flying Branch and Permanent/Short Service Commission in Technical and Ground Duty branches

AFCAT 2014 Dates

Candidates are to apply online on Indian Air Force career website www.careerairforce.nic.in from 14th December, 2013 to 12th January, 2014
Last date for submission of online applications is 12th January, 2014
Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) Exam to be conducted on 23rd Feb 2014 (Sunday) 

Eligibility Criteria

Flying Branch (15 SSC Course)
Age: 19 to 23 years as on 01st January, 2014 (born between 02nd January, 1992 to 01st January, 1996) both dates inclusive
Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (Indian) is relaxable upto 25 years (born between 02nd January, 1990 to 01st January, 1996) both dates inclusive
Educational Qualifications: Graduates (minimum 3 years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university who have attained minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level or B.E./B.Tech degree (4 year course) from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together
Candidates who have failed the Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply
Technical Branch (84 AEC/56 SSC Courses)
Age: 18 to 28 years as on 01st January, 2015 (born between 02nd January, 1987 to 01st January, 1997) both dates inclusive
Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) AE (L): Candidates applying for AE (L) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate membership examination of the institute of electronics and telecommunication engineers by actual studies
All candidates applying for AE (L) branch should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together
Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) AE (M): Candidates applying for AE (M) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Section A and B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies
All candidates applying for AE (M) branch should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together
Ground Duty Branch (137 GDOC/30 SSC Courses)
Age: (As on 01st Jan 2015)
For Graduate: 20 to 23 years (age limit); 02nd Jan 1992 to 01st Jan 1995; Born between (both dates inclusive) 
For Post Graduate/LLB (Five years integrated course): 20 to 25 years (age limit); 02nd Jan 1990 to 01st Jan 1995; born between (both dates inclusive)
For LLB (Three years course after Graduation): 20 to 26 years (age limit); 02nd Jan 1889 to 01st Jan 1995; Born between (both dates inclusive)
M.Ed/Ph.D/CA/ICWA 
Age limit: 20 to 27 years (age limit); 02nd Jan 1988 to 01st Jan 1995; Born between (both dates inclusive)

Educational Qualifications:

Administration and Logistics: Graduate Degree (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or a Post Graduate Degree/equivalent Diploma in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together
Accounts: Graduate Degree in Commerce (B.Com) (Minimum three year degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or Post Graduate Degree in Commerce (M.Com)/CA/ICWA with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate all papers put together
Education: Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all paper put together

AFCAT 2014 Selection Procedure 

All applicants whose application have been submitted by due date will be called for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) to be conducted on 23rd Feb 2014 (Sunday) at one of the examination centres mentioned below
Candidates will be required to login to their candidates login account regularly for information on AFCAT and AFSB testing. The entrance test will be of two hours duration and will contain multiple choice questions on verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and military aptitude. Sample question paper and syllabus of AFCAT is available on IAF career website www.careerairforce.nic.in
Candidates who are short-listed on the basis of Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) will be called for further testing at one of the Air Force Selection Board (AFSBs) at Dehradun, Mysore, Gandhinagar or Varanasi
The testing would consist of three stages as given below:
(a) Stage-I: Test consisting of Intelligence Test along with other tests will be conducted on the first day. Stage-I test is a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing
All State-I qualified candidates would be subjected to document check to ascertain their eligibility for the branches applied for. Those candidates who either do not qualify in State-I testing or do not meet the required eligibility criteria would be sent back on the first day itself
(b) State-II: Testing consisting of Psychological test, Group Test and Interview will be conducted on subsequent days (Four Days) 
(c) For Flying Branch: Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) would be administered to eligible candidates
Change of Interview Dates: Request for change of SSB interview date should be avoided. However, as an exception, such change may be considered based on the circumstances of the case. Request for such change should be forwarded to the respective AFSB from where the call letter for SSB Interview has been received and not to Air Headquarters/AFCAT Cell. The AFSBs may consider change of date at the their discretion
Medical Examination will be conducted at AFCME, New Delhi or IAM Bengaluru based on the recommendations at AFSB
Candidates recommended by the AFSBs and declared medically fit will be detailed for training in the order of all India Merit list depending the number of vacancies available in various branches/sub branches. Grant of PC/SSC in Technical and Ground Duty Branches would be based on number of vacancies, performance in the selection process and the choice given by the candidate/Airmen
No compensation will be paid in respect of any injury sustained during the testing at AFSB
10% of the vacancies are reserved for NCC Air Wing ‘C’ certificate holders in Technical and Ground Duty Branches
Onus of meeting the eligibility criteria rest with the applicant
Merely undergoing Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT)/SSB testing would not constitute fulfillment of eligibility requirements

To apply click on “Candidates Login” in the career website of IAF www.careerairforce.nic.in
Candidates are advised to read the notification for AFCAT 01/2014 and the detailed guidelines for filling up online application as given in the website www.careerairforce.nic.in prior to commencement of filling up online applications. 
While filling online application, it is advisable to keep the relevant documents readily available, as details are to be filled as per matriculation and other educational certificates. Please save your recent colour passport size photograph (size 10 to 250 kb) in the computer for attaching to your online application form
Please note that utmost care needs to be taken while filing up the online application. In case any information is found to be incorrect then the candidates is likely to be cancelled at any stage of the selection process
